Good Afternoon,

Growing up my parents and I spent many holidays in Menorca. I am now in the fortunate situation to be able to purchase a small property as a cash buyer. Obviously I am waiting for the current COVID situation to ease before purchasing. I am looking for a 3 bedroom apartment  initially for use for holidays for family and friends. My retirement is 8 years away and then would like to spend 8 weeks in the spring and 4 weeks late summer in Menorca. I am looking at Son Parc or Son Bou in the south as possible areas. Any advice on any aspects of purchasing in Menorca would be greatly appreciate.

Thanks,

Jim

Hi Jim,

Good to hear that you are considering buying a home here in Menorca. The two areas you are considering are both lovely. Of course Son Parc has the golf course if that is of interest to you. Son Bou on the other hand is close to the Cami and offers spectactular walks. I think there are possibly more eating places on offer at Son Bou. Have you considered the area next to Son Bou called Torre Soli Nou? There are some beautiful apartments there all with sea views.

The buying process used to be quite straight forward before Brexit. You will need to check up on the new rules possibly with an estate agent because there are all sorts of things in the local papers here about new purchases.

Best of luck. We have been here now for 6 years and love it!

Warm wishes,

Shona

Hi Shona,

Many thanks for taking the time to reply to my email, no I did not know of Torre Soli Nou so will explore this area also. I don't think things will be much more complicated post Brexit put will obviously conduct all the proper searches and checks before making offers.

Many Thanks,

Jim

Morning,

Yes that is the type of property and area we are looking for, do you know if there is an estate agent website I can view the apartment.

Regards,

Jim

Hi Jim. We bought in San Jaime (son bou) 18 months ago and dealt with Emma at Bonin Sanso. She took us around the island for our viewings over a 3 day period and helped and introduced us to many trades people as we have been renovating for 12 months.  Good luck

Hi Nicky,

Thanks for the useful information, good experiences/recommendations are very useful. I may well contact Bonin Sanso once we get back to some kind of normality, best of luck to you with your renovation.

Jim
