Hi. I think just be cautious for now.  I would say ask for your money back because in Calen Porter all bookings have been cancelled until next year due to the virus. You need a residencia to get onto the island now.

Hi do you think it safe to put a deposit on a villa for September next year for a wedding what are people’s thoughts on this ??  Flying from UK

Hi the travel companiesare saying still pay balance as it’s easier when the company say sorry it’s cancelled to get a refund so I’ve heard from websites like TUI and the likes. 

Probably wait for your flight to be cancelled, then claim a refund. If you are 'disinclined' to travel you won't normally get your money  back.

Ask the person who you are hiring the villa from.  It is doubtful they would be happy to refund until there is a clearer message from the Spanish government  BUT you could try asking !  If you have booked a 'package' the travel agent is obliged to refund you ….but you have to wait until the holiday is cancelled ….by English law (not sure how it work in Spain re holidays)  you are entitled to your refund , in cash, to your Bank, agent or credit card within 14 days ….but in my case it was almost three months (but at least I got it !)  travel advisors are saying do not accept a voucher but for some of my short holidays I am being offered that OR to wait until the end of July and then try reclaiming the money back …..IF the travel agent hasn't gone bust by then !  Very confusing times !  I usually go back at least three times a year (lived in Addaia)  but this year it is so sad I cannot go ….or anywhere, for that matter !  ...let us know how you get on ...good luck

Decided to cut out losses and cancel villa meaning we lose deposit. Keep flights at this stage. If cancelled then claim money back. If flights go ahead then weigh up the situation and probably rebook If we are allowed to visit. Will keep you updated

Its a shame you had lose the deposit …...luckily I had a full refund from a planned cruise to Norwegian Arctic in March ...but was asked to pay in full for a planned voyage across Russia in July ...said NO way ..Putin has said he will not open the borders and it is a very expensive trip ...also I needed a visa 18 weeks before hand, which I wouldn't have now even if it went ahead ….waiting to see if I lose my deposit …….also had two other trips booked for which I have been offered vouchers ….all travel sites say legally don't have to accept vouchers ….and concerned if the tour operators go bust I will get nothing back …….last time I book anything in advance …...good luck ! looking forward to Menorca opening  I am missing it !  Before Brexit I was planning to buy an apartment for holidays ...but in Mercadal, so I would visit in off season as well ...used to live in Addaia and walk most afternoons to Arenal or Na Macaret …..happy days !
