Hi, I wondered whether anyone has travelled recently with a dog on the Transmed ferry from Barcelona to Mahon? It had a dreadful reputation a few years back. We rescued a dog nearly 2 years ago. She had a lot of difficulties to overcome and we have not been able to leave her with anyone yet in the Uk and so have not been to our apartment in Menorca for 2 years. Once the C-virus dust has settled, and the Brexit pet passports are sorted I would like to be able to bring her out to Menorca with us. The ferry website looks a little more pet friendly but I would really like an opinion from someone who has done it. I look forward to hearing replies. Thank you.

Hi Judith, Do you know there is now Corsica ferries from Toulon to Ciutadella (it was Mahon last year). We used it for the first time last October to come back to the UK with our two dogs. For one thing it’s a lot cheaper than Transmed but the best thing is, you keep your dogs with you the whole time, in the cabin, restaurant etc. We found the whole journey very easy, motorways all the way from Toulon to Calais with one overnight stop.  I’m assuming you know what is required regarding the dog passport now we’ve left the EU with regard to the rabies antibody blood test apart from the rabies jab and that you have to wait four months after getting the results before you can then travel so that’s something you could be doing now to save time! You probably know all this but just in case, it’s something you need to be doing now if you haven’t already. It’s only needed once in a dogs lifetime. Good luck.

Thank you so much. I didn't know about this route and it sounds ideal. Thank you so much. It will be great to plan a nice trip once lockdown has ended and we can all travel safely again. Thank you so much. Judith
