Hello. We're new to this forum but have been holidaying on Menorca for many years. One of our treats for 21 years has been to dine at Dinkums, but we find this year that the business has closed down. Hoping Peter and Jose are OK and that someone will have some information about them and the restaurant.

Sorry to hear that they have closed - they were such an institution in Cales Font - the food was consistent if not spectacular but they were such personalities. I hope they can enjoy their retirement and perhaps sit outside with a drink rather than in the kitchen!

OK - I'll update my own question now I'm back. Other local business owners confirmed that Peter has retired and the ex-Dinkums premises (I'm told he is/was one of the few freeholders in Calas Fonts) is currently being sold. It was still closed at the end of August/Start of September 2023 while the sale progresses.
Peter and Jose have been a part of our Menorca visits since 1994 and we wish them all the best if they read this!
I'm sure such a prime spot will be open for the 2024 season and look forward to hearing/seeing what comes next...

Thanks for the update - it will strange visiting Es Castell with no Peter and Jose and the unique Dinkums charm! I hope the spot is sympathetically used.
It would be nice to know if they will be staying in Menorca and making the odd appearance or heading elsewhere - either way a well deserved retirement!
