Hi, I'm hoping to be in Alcaufar at the end of July for 2 weeks and would like to visit archaeology sites. As it looks too expensive for car hire which are the best and easiest to visit by public transport?  Also I have seen the archaeology Websites but does anyone have a book to sell on menorca archaeology sites? Thanks, Andy

Hi Andy

Menorca has some amazing archaeology sites, so I can understand yor willingness to visit them. Unfortunately, without a car, I think it is going to be very difficult. We live near Torre D'en Galmes, which is one of the best sites on the island but to get to it without a car is virtually impossible. The nearest bus runs between Alaior and Son Bou, but there are no stops along the road and even if there were, you would have a long walk (in the heat) to get to the site and back again. Many of the sites are tucked away down small lanes and some are only open on certain days of the week. There are some sites in the Mahon area that you could possily walk to but bear in mind walking in the heat is really hard work. I am sure that you could buy a decent book in Mahon with information on all the sites. Hope you have a good stay on Menorca. Steve
