I am sick and tired of the exorbitant charges with Banca March, I have been with them for decades now and through the misguided notion of loyalty stuck with them. I have never been out of credit and never owed anything, yet, the charges keep coming. I am looking to change, the ultimate being a charge for 65 euro as I had (apparently) not spent more than 3000 euros on my debit card. I am researching now for a better deal.

Anyone else agree?.. or have advice or recommendations??

Thanks.

I am a non-resident with a property in S'Algar. I too became fed up with fees and charges from Spanish banks. I have a euro account with Wise, and Internet bank based in Belgium. I use the account for everything. Direct debits from Spanish utility companies work fine. No charges at all.

I am currently going through the process of opening an online Caixa account that claims to be free… I am a Brit, but been a resident here for a long time now. I chose the Caixa option, as, although an online account, they do asign you a Branch for assistance if needed.

It seems to be the norm in Spain. I too am with Banca March, lovely people blah blah, but exorbitant charges. The lady in Mahon told me the only way I would get free banking would be if I deposited €25,000!! Not very likely!

I've heard unconfirmed reports that Deutsche Bank have low/no charges and am planning to investigate.
