Where can I buy a cheap second hand car in Menorca?
We have spent 2 or 3 months of the year in Menorca for the last 5 years (we have a holiday home here) and have spent a fortune on car hire. Enough is enough and we want to buy a cheap second hand car to avoid further high rental costs, especially as we are normally here in high season. Despite our almost intimate knowledge of the industrial estates around Mahon, we have never come across a used car dealership and my internet searches have come up with little except some details of extremely overpriced cars.
We just want a cheap run around to get to the supermarkets in the Mahon area plus some visits to other shops and places we like to go to. We have no idea how the car tax and insurance system works here (from what I've read, it sounds a bit complicated) and maybe we'd be wiser to buy a used car in England (loads available!) and drive it down.
