Hi, we are looking for a puppy. We have been to the 3 dog rescue places on the island and put our names down for a puppy or small dog. Looks like our chances are slim as that is what everyone seems to be after. Any suggestions appreciated or advice on obtaining a small puppy/dog from other areas is Spain.

Warm wishes, Shona

There’s a couple of dog rescue places in Mallorca. Don’t know the names but I’m sure a google search will have details.

Thanks for your reply. I'm keeping my eye out for puppies there too! So hard trying to find the right one!

Does it really have to be a puppy when there are so many sad souls in the rescue centres!

No it doesn't have to be a puppy. A small rescue dog would be lovely if it were the right one for our set up at home. Obviously all dogs are different and it is important to choose the right one that will get on with other pets and family members. Of course it is sad to see the bigger dogs left at the rescue centres. But they really need to go to a home that can accommodate their size. Unfortunately we haven't got a big enough home for a large dog. Hope this helps to explain things our end!

I understand. Have you been to the charity shop for the animals in Son Vilar. They sometimes have private ads in there for animals. We have two American Cocker Spaniels, the first  one was from an advert on their board in the shop. The second one came from The Protectorate. Good luck.

Thanks Tim! That was helpful. No we haven't tried there. Lucky you having 2 American Cockers. We used to have cocker spaniels in the UK. Fun times! Please keep in touch if you hear of any!

Thanks Tim for still thinking of me! I went to the cat and dog rescue shop to enquire about their dogs. The lady just said the shop was for raising money for the animals but they didn't have any there. I couldn't get past this really. Nothing on the board. Still looking!
