Beach question

Does anyone know if we can take our own umbrellas and put them up next to the hired ones? Four of us so would only afford to hire two a day as they are so expensive I understand!
At Arenal at least it is permitted to take your own umbrella and chairs, which we do. Same in Sant Tomas. I'm sure it us the same everywhere. Try it, they can only say no!
